CHAPTER ONE

GENERAL OVERVIEW

1.0       INTRODUCTION

This project was center on solar power installation tutors. Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaic, indirectly using concentrated solar power, or a combination. Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam.

This guide is written for those who do need solar power   and can’t afford sometimes quit costly installation services or if the solar power    installer is not available in your area – the latter is more common than one might think. We will cover most common power equipment types, as it is virtually impossible to go over such a wide range of different solar power   installation equipment available on the market. I assume anyone considering do-it-yourself solar power installation has basic knowledge of wiring techniques and practices. I am not to be hold responsible or liable for damages to the equipment due to mishandling or misuse. Remember during the installation always pay’ attention to safety. Working at heights and using tools can be dangerous please follow all safety practices. Let’s jump right to it now. Solar power is a critical asset to companies, especially in the form of reliable power.

Solar power   harnesses the sun’s energy in the form of light and converts the energy into electricity. The smallest unit of a solar power is the solar power cell, also called a photovoltaic, or PV cell; it’s the individual PV cell that turns sunlight into electricity. Individual cells arranged in a group are called a “module” or panel; a collection of two or more panels is called an array.

1.1       STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS

Solar power   in Nigeria is a very important device but it has become a very difficult thing to install solar power    and maintain it by new users.

This is as result of this fact:

  1. Many users find it difficult to afford the installation due to charges of the works and the maintenance of the solar power system charges is much.
  2. Solar power is not a common device in Nigeria, Let their outlet (workshop environment) is not located in local areas.
  3. Inadequate resource (money) to learn the manual method.
  4. Inadequate information in solar power manual installation.
  5. Poor usage of solar power and maintenance by the end users.

1.2       AIM AND OBJECTIVES

AIM

The aim of this proposed is to design an application that will guide end users on how to install and maintain solar power system objectives as follow:

  • To enable apprentice have quick understanding on how solar power is install and how it maintain.
  • To reduce time consuming in terms of teaching the solar power process.
  • To reduce expenses to the owners and others.
  • To design software that will be user-friendly, easy to use and interactive in nature, enabling learners to be able to navigate from one lesson to another.
  • To analyze the Existing manual system.
  • To enable easy installation of the solar power and maintenance.
  • To encourage the use of solar power and maintaining it in Nigeria.

1.3       SCOPE AND LIMITATION

The research work is restricted to the following:

  • Focus on people who Have idea in solar power system installation.
  • This procedure will involve an individual who have interest in the installation process.

LIMITATIONS

The limitation of the study is basically on teaching of solar power system installation and how it will be maintain. Also they must possible limitation   which we may encounter in my research is:

  1. Finance: As a student, financial resource to expand the scope is not available.
  2. Time: Time frame for this work is short and the researcher has to fulfill other courses requirements within the same period.
  3. Research Material: There are limited accesses to relevant research material to further study.

1.4       SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Since every organization wishes to improve on its current status as advances in information Technology is very imminent, the study is therefore to improve   society by providing a means of software that teach how solar power can be install. The significance of this study is that it will change the present manual ways of teaching solar power   installation and maintenance system that will help to provide quick and reliable ways on how to teach solar power installation process, frequently so as to give adequate and current ways of teaching. One of the biggest advantages of the computer aided learning of solar power installation process is   that its strong software that will assist the learner to learn fast without wasting time to teach them on how to understand   solar power installation, it also dedicated to improving its functionality and fixing any issues that may arise in time of teaching and making it simple and easy to use. One of its strong features is that it is program with natural language   which is voice, pictures, videos that the student can easily understand what the system is saying through voice, and showing the physical part.

Also the study generates a computer aided learning (CAI) application to teach and explain solar power    installation and it maintenance to ease alleviating the problem encountered in manual approach. This strategy will greatly help in teaching, learning and hence increase understanding of the use of audio-visual aids which shows diagrammatic representation of processed

1.5      DEFINITION OF TERMS

Aided: Aided is a process of helping an individual person to achieve something or to promote.

Audio: Audio or voice technologies offer cost-effective ways to enhance distance learning courses. The audio component of a distance learning course can be as simple as a telephone with voicemail, or it can be as complex as an audio conference with microphones, telephone bridges, and speakers.

Computer: is any machine or device which is under the control of a stored program, can accept data in a prescribed form, process the data and supply the result as information specific format.

Computer Aided Instruction: This involves using computers to organize and manage an instructional programmed for students

Computer Aided Manufacturing: This is a computer programmed that generates tool path or other manufacturing data to fabricate tooling, usually by subtractive means.

Instruction:  This is the process of teaching a person to do something or issuing commands.

Software: Software is computer programmed.

CAI: An Acronym for “Computer Aided Instruction”.
