CHAPTER ONE

1.1  INTRODUCTION

This chapter of the project explicitly explodes banks computerization and its mode of collection of information. It also highlights the statement of the study, objective of the study, significance of the study, scope of the study, limitation of the study, and finally the definition of terms, the importance of web-based recruitment cannot really be over emphasized in every organization especially banks raised solely on the existence and management of data, strict statement were formulated and tested to prove beyond every reasonable doubt that web-based recruitments has improved seriously in banks in the study areas. It also observes some attribute and some forms of web-based recruitment outside is been looked at. This project goes forward to widen the scope of the above topic in banks. The study will also show how to adequately protect the integrity of job recruited exercise in banks.

 

 

1.2  BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Workforce is a multi sector recruitment specialist, representing permanent, temporary and contract candidate across several markets.

It was founded in 2002, they operate from their head office in Lancashire and provide recruitment service throughout the UK, acting in partnership with the diverse range of SMES and the black chip clients. Workforce recruitment is registered in England and Wales Company No. 4930642. They recruit across a number of sectors, falling into the following sub-divisions:

  1. Industrial/ Engineering/ Construction (white collar).
  2. Industrial/ Engineering/ Construction (black collar).
  3. Commercial professionals.

Each of their consultant works within a specific sub-division consequently each consultant has a clear understanding of the market place in which they operate and can provide advice to both employee and candidates regarding recruitment in their sector. There is normally a very low staff turnover within our industry, providing stability or your ongoing recruitment, you will gain and retain a professional recruitment contact.

The aim of the organization is to build partnership with people who trust them to handle their requirements; the company was established in Blackburn to provide temporary support to companies within Lancashire, a further support office was established in Preston in 2004, an in 2005 an increase in the number of permanent and senior post handled by workforce lead to a shift in focus from local to National recruitment, in 2006 commercial professional and white collar Industrial/ Engineering/ Construction sub-divisions are formally established. In 2007 workforce technology (IT recruitment Division) was established to provide contract and permanent IT professionals throughout UK, in 2008 workforce technology partner with MDB recruitment to provide a unique vetting service for IT contactors.

 

1.3         STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Application of computer in job recruitment system comes in a manner, which is significantly different from the manual system. One basic problem in the banking sector is the absence of a web-based system that keeps track of all the whole information of the bank/recruitment firms.

 

The statement of the problems is based on the following:-

  1. To find out about the activities and operations of recruiting agencies an how to enhance their functions effectively with the use of a dynamic web-site.
  2. To employ reliable and effective software for the design in other to achieve the aim of the study.
  3. In develop a better interface that will make it easier for applicant to search for jobs in the banking sectors to be able to access it with ease.
  4. To develop a strong web-site that will not be hostile to virus and mal-wares.

 

  • OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

 

The objective of the project work is to implement a web-based internship recruitment firm for bank recruitment using the work-force PLC as a case study. This project involves. The maintenance of a log for the recruitment of workers at the minimum. It also explains the reason why recruitment log be kept or held.

 

Generally, this project work is to test how effective the system can be when compared with the manual bank recruitment system.

 

The objectives are as follows:-

  1. To enable applicant to access latest vacancies in the banking sector.
  2. To enable applicant to summit CV in Microsoft word format to the database.
  3. To enable the applicant to know the status of his application.
  4. To send auto response to applicants E-mail as they just applied.

 

  • SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The research work is exceedingly anticipated to motivate organization apart from work-force international which do not make use of web-based consultancy to introduce it in their organization. So as to promote integrity and avoid inconsistency in the system.

 

The research work is finally going to show how web-base recruitment can be set- up and maintained. Nevertheless, it will go a long way to boost the morale of the management in following ways:-

 

  1. In developing the worker’s ability, interpret and present research materials.
  2. Enables users to put into practice the principles and theories in the software.
  3. The study will add to the impetus of the job consultancy in the next millennium.
  4. In cultivating dependence of though and encourage the habit of systematic study.
  5. It will also be helpful to the students who are carrying research on this topic or any related topic.

 

 

 

1.6     SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This project work looks at web-base internship recruitment firm for recruitment in work-force international; the work can be seen from several ways:

 

Since it is a wide range of study that cannot all be exhausted in this research work, the researcher shall be considering the work base on the researcher’s project topic.

 

1.7  LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The major limiting factor that retarded the straight forward of this research work on web base recruitment and recruitment are as follows:

 

  1. Lack of textbooks, journals: it is known fact that universities and polytechnics libraries and other public libraries in Nigeria are very much lacking of books, journals and other publications which is much needed in project write ups.
  2. Finance: the cost of interest is high and as a student, I was unable to afford all the financial requirements of this research work.
  3. Time: the period of time allowed for this project was small. a project of this nature need to be done gradually hence months can be over without getting all necessary facts needed for this work .

 

1.8         DEFINTION OF TERMS

WEB-BASE: This is actually a way or process at which a particular set of information is resident in a location, especially in a web as in our case, for easy accessibility and retrieval.

WEB-DESIGN: Web design is a kind of graphic design for development and styling of object of the internet’s information environment to provide them high end consumer features and aesthetic qualities.

 

INFORMATION: This can simple be said to be a processed data which will be relevant for its purpose.

 

RECRUITMENT: These entails the act of referring the web base for any required information as needed by the people in charge.

 

RECRUITMENT: This is the act of getting/adding a member to an organization to render a special service to the organization.

 

SYSTEM: A system is a series of interrelated unit that works together for the attainment of a common goal.
